About Kiki Marine

With over 40 years of boating experience, I founded Kiki Marine to provide honest, detailed, and customer-focused marine surveys. My journey began as a sailing instructor in my youth and evolved into a professional career as a skipper in the Caribbean and worldwide. Combined with certifications from the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) and training with the International Institute of Marine Surveyors and Transport Canada, I offer a level of expertise that ensures every survey is thorough, precise, and trustworthy.

I am a boat owner and have been in one form or another for most of my life. I understand the significance of every decision you make about your vessel. That’s why I emphasize truth, transparency, and professionalism in all aspects of my work. I serve a diverse range of clients, including prospective boat buyers, current owners, insurers, and brokers, and I assess vessels of all sizes — from compact powerboats and sailing dinghies to much larger sailboats and yachts.

What's with the name, Kiki?

Kiki is our Shiba Inu Dog, and she joins my wife and I on all outings – including anything boating related. In the summer, we live on our sailboat. So we take a small motorboat to the city and back every day. She loves the motorboat. I guess it’s sort of like being able to put your head out the car window without having to bother leaning over. She is also good with living on the sailboat – until it moves. Surprisingly, Kiki isn’t a fan of the house leaning crazily one way or the other. The motorboat is much more her speed. Comfort in predictability, I guess. All that said, I now relate the boat to the dog. Therefore, Kiki Marine seemed fitting.
